All stainguard plus labeled shingles carry a 25 year limited warranty and 10 year non prorated period against algae discoloration caused by blue green algae also known as cyanobacteria. Tear off disposal and workmanship are not covered. A manufacturer s warranty or a roof shingle warranty is the most common type of roof warranty which may include coverage from 20 to 50 years. For stainguard and ridge cap shingles there is a 10 year algae warranty a 15 year wind warranty and a 130 mph wind speed coverage for special installations.

This type of warranty only provides protection for defects in actual roofing materials that disintegrate or break down before they should and the warranty can be in question if a homeowner cannot.
